The Aviston Elementary School Board of Education is inviting resident of the Aviston school district to a Voter Information Night at Aviston Elementary School on April 21st at 7pm The Board recently approved ballot question for the November election to consider an increase in the Education Fund tax rate from $.92 to $1.37. The district has been deficit spending and using reserve funds for several years due to decreases in funding from the State of Illinois. The proposed new rate would result in an increase of approximately $243 to a homeowner with a home valued at $180,000.
The Voter Information Night will begin with a presentation explaining the need for an increase and will highlight steps taken to reduce spending by the Board. A question and answer period will follow the presentation, which will take place in the gym. Everyone is invited to attend.
